Pilgrim

In 2000, after reading Shirley MacLaine’s The Camino: A Journey of the Spirit, I knew I would walk El Camino de Santiago. The ancient five-hundred-mile path across northern Spain captured my attention, only I had children to raise and elders who required care.  In 2010, I walked El Camino de Santiago for the first time. Since then, I have made three more pilgrimages through France and Portugal, always ending in Spain.

We each have unique dreams.  As humans we need to honor the precious whispers calling us forward. Decades passed before I focused on fulfilling my dreams.  As a pilgrim, I discovered there were more dreams awaiting my future. More mountains to climb and vistas to see. The power of moving forward, one foot in front of the other has fortified my life. Walking became an essential meditative practice and has rejuvenated my spirit.
